This wild turkey passed under the deck at my brother-in-laws house, in full feather.  The challenge in painting it was to portray the color and softness of the feathers.  I preserved the area of the head and neck, then used an underpainting of strong colors.  Then I drew the body feathers on the underpainting and proceeded to lift the feather shapes out of the underpainting.  Last, I painted the brilliant red head and neck.
